Ready for a little island fun? Zoya’s creams are a dream for Summer 2015!

When excitement over a new nail collection leaves you so giddy you get SO excited you jump up and down flailing your arms about and accidentally whack off one of your nails from your swatching hand things can get a little emotional.  Okay, so maybe that’s not exactly how it went, but last week after swatching the shimmers from the Zoya Summer 2015 Collection Paradise Sun I didn’t have time to immediately swatch the creams and later that day when I was doing regular-life stuff like unloading groceries and putting the Eggo Waffles in the freezer that’s when it happened.  The freezer door claimed the life of my left ring finger.  Okay, it was just the nail, and I suppose it wasn’t the entire nail, but when all was said and done (and expletives were uttered) I was incredibly bummed that my nail was reduced to a mere nub.  *sad face*

Fortunately, my swatching hand backup rose to the occasion and after a few days of prep to get her presentable for the camera (and a lot of coaxing – she’s a little camera shy after all!) my right hand is making her debut to share the Zoya Island Fun Collection with you today.  So, give her a break (she’s still a bit timid!) and try to look past any application mistakes.  Lefty is usually in the spotlight and isn’t used to doing the grunt work so she was a little testy when being forced into the application this time! 😉

Well if you’re still with me, how’s that for meaningless drivel before a nail polish swatching post? Regardless, I think you’re gonna love this fun summer collection from Zoya – I daresay she’d be worth getting so excited you break a nail! 😉

OH YES HONEY!  Look at those summer creams!  I love the color palette Zoya gave us with the entire Summer 2015 Collection.  Rich saturated hues that are incredibly timeless and are an absolute beauty to work with.  The collection leans toward the the blues/greens/purples but I do like how they added a rich modern red to the bunch as well and that fuchsia is to die for (seriously my favorite!).  The sun was shining after days of rain, so I took these beauties out in the Houston humidity for outdoorsy shots.  It quite literally felt like I was in a jungle (to put it into perspective my windows are fogged up from the intense humidity as I type this!) but what could be more appropriate for an island fun nail shot anyway, right?

Demetria

Zoya Demetria is described as a “vibrant poppy red”.  This is my most favorite shade of red I’ve seen from Zoya.  There is just something about a red that is warm, but doesn’t encroach onto orange-y territory that screams both “modern” and “vintage” in one stroke of the brush to me.  She is seriously such a beauty! Demetria was easy to work with and fully opaque with two coats. If you notice the center of my nails are not as glossy it is due to the humidity in the air and temperature change going from inside to outside!

Nana

Zoya Nana is described as a “deep summer fuchsia”.  Nana has to be my favorite shade of the bunch.  I just looove a fuchsia on the toes for the summer – it looks beautiful on pale or tanned toes and incredibly rich on the nails as well.  The formula of this one is impeccable, easy to work with and fully opaque with two coats.  If you love fuchsia, she is definitely calling your name, and if you don’t hear her I’m yelling out loud that you need this one!

Serenity

Zoya Serenity is described as a “summer purple reminiscent of blooming irises”.  This one reminds me of a regal purple that has been slightly whitewashed for summertime fun.  She’s rich, but not too intense and her formula again is a beauty.  Fully opaque with two coats the consistency is perfection!

Talia

Let’s get into the blues, baby! I have to give Zoya props for their blue formulas.  Both Talia and Cecilia (below) are incredible formulas.  Slightly thicker than the others in the collection, the brush picks up quite a lot so I had to be sure to drag some off before hitting the nail but the consistency is such that it feels rich and incredibly smooth – it doesn’t flood anything and it smooths out like butter. Zoya Talia is described as a “true turquoise”. She reminds me of a fun day at the beach, which perfectly defines summer. If you want a rich summer turquoise Talia is the one!

Cecilia

Zoya Cecilia is described as a “classic teal” which is an excellent description.  Application is the same as with Talia (see above) and fully opaque with two coats – possibly even one if you laid it on thick.  Of the two blues in the collection it so hard to choose just one but I think I’ll go with Cecilia because teal in the summer is perfection!

One important note about both the teal and turquoise in this collection – you will definitely want to wear a base coat before putting these on since blues and teals seem to stain the nails more easily than other shades.

Jace

Zoya Jace is described as a “modern tropical green”. I find greens hard to pull off for my skintone, so they are my least worn colors.  Jace is a beauty though, and to my eyes looks like a mix between a jungle green and my favorite pair of khaki shorts – you know the ones I would wear if I were going on safari!  Not too dark nor too light Jace is a happy medium between the two.  The formula on this one is different from the rest of the collection – not as intense in color, so that with the first coat I can still see my nail underneath and I have to take care to apply a thicker coat when I go back in for the second one.  The formula is very smooth, easy to work with and not too thin so it still stays in place when it is on the nail. If green is your shade then you will want to try Jace because the shade is so unique.  She even had me convinced that I like it on my nails too!

  1. I really like Nana and Serenity but Talia and Cecelia are close runners up! Jace is pretty but just not a great shade for me. I suspect I could see using Jace for nail art…if I ever got ambitious enough to use the nail brushes I bought (LOL). I think Zoya did a great job for the entire collection. (And yes, Nana looks great on you!)

  2. These are gorgeous! Now why on earth aren’t there more comments on here?
