Zoya Faye Swatches

In Nails, Zoya by Angie Canning2 Comments

When it comes to past Zoya collections I feel like I’ve been picking up some great ones lately (if I do say so myself! ;), and Zoya’s Faye is no exception.  Faye is a gorgeous bronze-gold shimmer set in a beautiful mauve-plum base, and the result on the nails is nothing short of brilliance!

What can I say but “WOW!” to Zoya’s Faye.  I purchased this beauty a few months back during one of Zoya’s promos so she has been waiting patiently to be swatched for awhile now.  I just kept thinking to myself that this shade looked more fall-appropriate in the bottle, so I was putting it off.  Once I tried it, however, I quickly changed my mind, and while I find this shade would be perfect year-round, I think it would look especially stunning in the summer – it almost reminds me of a golden sunsent once on the nails!  Today when looking up this collection on Zoya’s site, I see I wasn’t too far off thinking this would fit with summer, as it was released as a part of six polishes in the Summer 2011 Sunshine Collection.  The shades in this collection are still available on Zoya.com: Reva, Kimmy, Apple, Tanzy, Rica and Faye.

Faye is described by Zoya as: “A bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones flooded with bright gold sparkle.”  It has a metallic finish and the opacity is level 4 (1=sheer and 5= opaque), and has both warm and cool tones in it.  I found this applied fully opaque with two coats for me.

Overall I am finding myself mesmerized by Faye and think it not only works for summer, but because of it’s guilded look can easily be worn all year long.  It is eye-catching, unique, and elegant!

Availability:  $8, Zoya.com or as part of the Sunshine Sampler (0.5 oz bottles) for $48

Do you have any of the polishes from the 2011 Sunshine collection? I’d love to hear your favorites.

  1. Try a coat of Faye over a coat or two of gold (a shade more along the lines of Jules than Goldie). It makes for a gorgeous rose gold, and salvaged a totally awful non-Zoya gold I made the mistake of buying. Over Angelina, it turns really copper with green sparkle. Considering it took me about a year after buying Faye to try it, I’ve become that color’s biggest cheerleader.

    1. That sounds like a gorgeous combination! I am definitely a fan of rose-gold and so that sounds amazing. 🙂 Thank you so much for the sharing this. 🙂
