And what is this? Is it snowing all of the sudden? What a perfect magical wintry forest coincidence!
Zoya Enchanted Holiday 2016 includes a total of six polishes: Saint, Alice, Waverly, Lorna, Elphie, Olivera
Can you feel the crisp air and see the light fluffy snowflakes yet? How about the crackling of the branches underfoot as we head into the forest illuminated by fairy lights and PixieDust? Enchanted indeed!
Elphie is described as a “bewitching emerald green with a sugary green sparkle in the exclusive Zoya PixieDust Matte Sparkle formula.”
Elphie is a beautiful holiday green matte textured polish that filled with sparkling dimension. Although Zoya has released two green PixieDust polishes in the past (Chita and Cece) this one is definitely more of a kelly green than the others, making it a perfect pick for the holidays. Two coats made this easily opaque on my nail swatch above.
Olivera is a green flip: “A spellbinding color-flip metallic with an indigo base and a green and purple shift.”
Okay Olivera you have my attention! This is the most enchanted shade of them all in this collection. I love the deep blue with strong forest green shift and hint of purple glint. This formula is a “metallic flip” from Zoya and applies oh so smooth. I was able to get full opacity on the nails in two coats. This one is a winner for the holidays for sure and I’m loving it on the nail shape I’ve been trying to perfect over the past couple of months. What do you think?
Lorna is a plum pixie: “A luscious berry with a sugary sparkle in the exclusive Zoya PixieDust Matte Sparkle formula.”
Lorna is my favorite of these new PixiDust in the collection. Although Zoya has released quite a few PixieDust shades in the red family in the past (see the Fall 2014 Collection and Thea from the Winter 2014 collection), Lorna has more of a red-plum base and she has much more finely milled glitters than Noir. Easily opaque with two coats, this shade will take me through fall and winter – it’s just classic!
Waverly is a sapphire pixie: “A brilliantly deep sapphire blue with blue sparkles in the exclusive Zoya PixieDust Matte Sparkle formula.”
Blue isn’t a new shade in the PixieDust formula for Zoya, but yet somehow the brand works their magic to make Waverly different than the others (see Nori, Liberty and Sunshine). Zoya’s color description of “sapphire” fits very well with this shade. The base is a rich blue and the flecks of fine blue sparkles make this one a stunner for winter. Again, easily opaque with two coats.
Alice is a periwinkle pixie: “A captivating periwinkle with magenta and blue sparkles in the exclusive Zoya PixieDust Matte Sparkle formula.”
If pale icy periwinkle shades are your thing girl, you are going to love the next two shades! For those who like a little texture and sparkle first up is Alice, a ultra girly purple-y blue with fun holographic sparkles. This shade is unique to the PixieDust formula and is gorgeous. If you ask me, I think it must have come from the winter forest fairy queen herself!
Saint is a periwinkle flip: “A whimsical color-flip metallic with a periwinkle base and magenta shift.”
Another unique shade in the collection is Saint, periwinkle blue, which is similar to Alice but has a bit more blue to it with a pinky-purple shift. This shade is most definitely a winter-fairy kind of shade! In swatching she was as smooth as silk, but I felt like 2 coats did not give me full opacity. I was comfortable with two coats, but you may want three with this one.
Well that was a fun enchanted winter forest adventure now wasn’t it? As per usual I am impressed with the formulation of the Zoya polishes. The creamy metallic flip shades were easy to apply and performed well (and I’m head over heels for Olivera!). At first I will admit I was a little bit concerned that of the six polishes four of them were PixieDust formulas, as I know not everyone is a huge fan of wearing texture on the nails, but I am pleased with the shades and think they work well with the Enchanted wintry forest theme we have going on here. If you are a fan of textured polishes I think you will definitely want to get your nails on Lorna and Alice for sure to carry you through the holidays and on into winter. I think they would look stunning with a glossy topcoat because of all that dimension that can tend to get lost once the textured polish dries on the nails.
