When I am going for that flawless face makeup, I tend to reach for these products that I find perfect for filling pores and controlling shine!
NYX Shine Killer
This is an instant-mattifying product that you can put on under or over your makeup. You can see it work immediately, and although it does not last indefinitely, it does an excellent job of controlling shine!
How I Use It: I apply this all over my face after my foundation has sunk into my skin a bit. I rub a pea-sized amount between both of my fingertips and apply it to my entire face. The great thing about this product is that you can throw it in your handbag for mid-day touch-ups! If you see shine coming through, use a blotting paper, then gently apply more to the shiny areas, and set it with a powder if you have it – if not, it just leaves a translucent, but noticeably matte finish behind (be sure to be gentle though, and not rub off your makeup underneath).
NYX Pore Filler
This is a product that fills in the larger pores on my cheeks, so it helps me get that “flawless” look! The instructions state to use before foundation application, but I found that it works best for me applied after foundation, but before powdering.
How I Use It: I take a pea-sized amount, rub it between my fingers and then gently fill in the pores by sweeping it across them. It can take a bit to get used to though – if you use a heavy hand you will see the product won’t stay, so be gentle with your sweeping motion, and it will fill them in. When applying powder on top, I am careful to use a light hand so it does not remove the Pore Filler.
Urban Decay DeSlick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray
UD Deslick is something I had tried in the past and not loved, but this past summer I decided to pair it with the above products, and along with the addition of a mattifying powder, it did make a difference to me! Plus, I learned to follow directions and be sure I shake it well before each use. It sounds silly, but it does work much better after shaking it! I use this before I apply my foundation and then at the end when my entire face is done.
A Blow Dryer! As the final step, I also like to use a blow dryer to “set” my makeup after spritzing it on. Maybe it does nothing, maybe it does. All I can say is that I love the way my makeup looks after the entire process. Plus I kind of feel like a flat-chested VS model with the wind whipping my hair about as I set my face makeup. Helloooo GAWGEOUS! 😉
Overall I’m loving the combination of these products and how they give the appearance of a smoother, flawless finish to my face!
