On My Faux Summer Wishlist
It’s officially summer, and with the heat and humidity in full swing here in Texas, I figure we’ve got the whole summer ahead of us to sit inside and cool ourselves by the A/C. 😉 It’s a good thing we have the modern and sun-safe convenience of self-tanner at our fingertips so we can fake it, right?! With the wide variety of self-tanners available I’m just getting started with a few that have caught my eye thus far – not to mention that a new month is coming up in a few days (HELLO new monthly Beauty Budget – WOO!) 😉 so now I’m getting prepared to shop my tan on!
Here are a few I’ve got my eye on at Sephora:
- Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse Medium 4.22 oz., $54 USD. Sephora says this is a long-lasting tanning mousse that gives a golden-bronze result for up to two to three weeks. I’ve had my eye on this since Sephora announced it awhile back, and while I’m not placing bets on the duration of the tan, I am reading great customer reviews, which makes me very curious! I think I must try!
- Brazilian True Tan by Brazilian Peel 6 oz., $39 USD. This is a dual-action self tanner lotion for flawless color and softer skin. The unique formula combines two steps of exfoliation and tanning into one which sounds interesting!
- Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel 7 oz., $45 USD. This self-tanning gel is designed to bring out healthy color in the skin, is lightweight and non-oily. Clarins says it is instantly absorbed so there is no need to wait before getting dressed, and you can see results in two hours. This one sounds promising!
- bareMinerals Faux Tan Body Sunless Body Tanner 6 oz., $26 USD. This pick gives me the most bang for my buck from the products on my wishlist today. It is a gradual and build-able sunless tanner that bareMinerals says develops into a golden, natural-looking tan that lasts five to seven days. It contains a mineral copper complex that is supposed to prolong the tanning effects and contains ingredients to hydrate the skin as well.
One caveat of traveling down the self-tanner highway? The stench! The scent is most always the reason I turn the car around and head home! I loathe the self-tanner scent so intensely that I only attempt going on a self-tanning journey for two months of the year, and I am fully content with my pasty self the remaining ten. When reading reviews regarding the scent of a self-tanning product, I cover my ears. I don’t want to hear how amazing the product smells during application, I want to know what I am going to smell like for the next week after putting it on – who is with me on this one people? 😀 I definitely have to check out the scent for myself that is for sure!
Now I want to know what your favorite self-tanning product(s) are that keep you faux-golden for the summer or year-round! I’d love some more suggestions.
