NYX Matte Bronzer in Light | Review, Photos, Swatches, Makeup Look

In NYX Cosmetics by Angie Canning

NYX Matte Bronzer has been on my wishlist for quite some time.  I purchased the shade Light and I am excited to share my thoughts with you.

The packaging is so sleek!

I was a little surprised at how rich the shade “Light” looks in the pan.

NYX is cruelty free.  Note the ingredients.

NYX Matte Bronzer in Light (a Dark Gold as described by NYX).

Swatched heavily to show the warmth and richness of this bronzer.

This shot was taken after applying NYX Bronzer in Light to the cheeks, forehead and jawline.  I hadn’t made it to the lips yet but wanted to capture how the bronzer looks before blush.

NYX Matte Bronzer is available in an impressive 5 shades: Light (dark gold) Deep (deep cool brown), Medium (dark golden brown), Dark Tan (deep warm brown), Deep Tan (deep golden brown).  The finish is matte, but is not chalky, has a nice natural finish when applied to the skin, and does not turn orange as the day goes on – a huge plus!

Shade, Pigmentation & Application.  NYX Matte Bronzer in Light is a deeper shade than I expected for a bronzer in the “light” family.  Although it is described by NYX as a Dark Gold, I find it has warm and rusty red-brown shades to it.  I think that makes it more unique and gives it more depth than a bronzer that has more of a flat orange tone to it.  For color reference, I feel it is in between the NYC Bronzer in Sunny (less orange) and the elf Turks & Caicos palette (less brown).  The pigmentation in this bronzer is quite nice, and shows up easily on my skin.  I have been using a softer duo-fibre brush to lightly pick up the color and build it up as I desire.  Although it is pigmented, it is easily blended in and blended out.  I do feel I need to take care when I apply it to my complexion so I don’t over do it, but I do not mind because it is easy to work with.  Because of this it will make it easier to work with this same bronzer as the weather warms up and I start self-tanning again, so I don’t have to switch to a new bronzer, so that is a plus!

Overall, I think this is a beautiful warm bronzer that has excellent color payoff and is something I can easily work with.  It is a beautiful product!
