Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal Collection 24 Hour Eyeshadow | Swatches, Review

In Collections, Eye Makeup, Maybelline by Angie Canning

Maybelline has released the latest addition to their Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadows with the Metal collection. This collection consists of a beautiful range of metallic shades perfect to brighten up holiday and winter looks this season!

55 Inked in Pink – This is a delicate and feminine pale pink when applied to the lid. It is shimmery, but not glittery. It does give the lid that slight metal look, but it has a good balance of a creamy look to it and so it is a color I could definitely wear to brighten up my eye for an every day look. It applies very smoothly and blends in easily.

60 Silver Strike – This is a beautiful bright silvery shade with slight glitter in it. When smoothed on the lid, it is creamy and blends well, and you can build up the color easily before it sets. It almost reminds me of “silver leaf” on the lids with how silver my lids look!

65 Gold Rush – This is a very bright gold shade with smaller as well as larger bits of glitter. This makes Gold Rush literally look like gilded gold on the lids. Although it contains glitter (more apparent when swatched than in the pot) it is still soft to use on the lids and I did not experience any discomfort). Because of the extra dimension, this one is a little harder to blend evenly, but again it is easy to build up if you would like to. In the pot it looks almost like a bright yellow, but it is definitely a bright gold when applied to the lid. (I will have a swatch comparison between the other gold shades in the Color Tattoos up soon).

70 Barely Branded – This is a beautiful nude-like shade that I was curious to see how it would compare to Barely Beige from their Fall 2012 Scene on the Runway Collection. (I will have a swatch comparison up soon.) I will say Barely Branded has a little less of a shimmer to it and tends to pull a little more creamy, but it still has the beautiful brightening effect on the lid and is easy to apply and blend.

75 Electric Blue – is a blackened blue shade. The metallic look of this eyeshadow on the lid is slightly more subdued than you would think because it does not have excess shimmer to it and so when blending it out you lose a bit of that metallic blue you see in the pot, however, if you build it up it does turn into a deep mysterious dark blue on its own. It would also work beautifully as an eye base under a powder for a blackened blue smokey eye look.

Swatched L to R: 55 Inked in Pink, 60 Silver Strike, 65 Gold Rush, 70 Barely Branded, 75 Electric Blue

Maybelline has created a beautiful collection in the current Metal Color Tattoos. I am a big fan of the Color Tattoos -I love that they last all day on my lids without creasing, have a beautiful shade range, and find them just as beautiful on their own, or used as a base for powder eyeshadows.

Maybelline describes the Color Tattoos as a 24 Hour Cream Gel Shadow that is their longest-lasting shadow, lasting 24 hours, and the gel consistency of the eyeshadows smooths on the lids providing a vibrant color that does not fade.

Overall I find the consistency of the Metal Color Tattoo Eyeshadows collection just as creamy and easy to apply as their previous limited edition collections they released in the fall. They are very pigmented, last all day on my lids without creasing, and stay vibrant, just as Maybelline claims.  I cannot attest to their claim the eyeshadows last 24 hours, but lasting all day on my lids is enough for me. I love to use these eyeshadows on their own for a long-lasting look or as a base for powder eyeshadows. In both cases, they perform beautifully. I find with all of the Color Tattoos they apply best using a finger or synthetic brush, and both work just as well to blend and build up the color to your liking.  The shade range in the Color Tattoos collection is beautiful, especially in this collection.

Where to Buy: I found the Metal Color Tattoos in store at my local Wal-Mart for $5.94 each (price in your location may vary).  I am unclear if the Metal collection is limited edition, so once I have that information I will update this post.
