I was very excited when spotting essie's Winter 2012 collection (also known as Leading Lady Collection) because it looked so unique and not like a typical red and green or even jewel toned collection. It almost reminds me of vintage holiday cards with faded turquoise and red lettering, or a glamorous holiday movie classic. Every polish in this collection is rich with not only color but with names like Leading Lady, She's Pampered, Butler Please, and Where's My Chauffer, I dare say I will be feeling a little bit like a Leading Lady this holiday season!
I used two coats of polish in each of the swatches and no topcoat. Each applied very smoothly and was opaque with the two coats. Butler Please does not dry glossy, so it would definitely benefit from a shiny topcoat in my opinion – still the most gorgeous pop of blue these nails have ever worn! The reds, OMG the reds!! They are simply stunning, and with one more of a cool toned red (She's Pampered), and the other a warm toned red (Snap Happy) you are sure to find one that works with your skintone. Both are glossy and eye-catching! I think my favorite has to be Leading Lady because of its mysterious ruby-red look once on the nail, ultra glamorous! Where's My Chauffer – this one is a Tiffany's box turquoise blue shade that just looks so classic. Beyond Cozy is a "Silver and Gold" color that is super flashy on the nail, but would definitely need a couple coats of a clear topcoat because of its glittery/gritty texture. I think this would make a beautiful accent nail, but as I wore this one for a few days on my nails I did find it eye-catching in a very classy way (although of course a pain to take off, as glitter polishes go!)
Overall, I am stunned with essie's Leading Lady collection for Winter 2012 and think it has the right mix of holiday seasons all wrapped into one!
