I HAVE USED THE CLARISONIC MIA for ten days now, which I would normally consider too short of a time period to share my thoughts with you all regarding a skincare product; however this is something I’ve loved from the first night I used it, and since I’ve already seen results from using it even over the past ten days, the Mia makes it into my Friday Fave this week!
The Mia comes with a cap that can be used to protect the brush head. It can also be used to remove the brush head.
The charger for the Mia simply attaches magnetically to the inside end of the handle.
This is what the Mia looks like with the brush head removed.
The brush hairs on the sensitive brush head are just long enough to be effectively firm for cleaning, without being too rough.
So many brush hairs – but don’t let that scare you! The bristles on the sensitive brush head are gentle on the skin.
FIRST OF ALL, I kind of feel like I’m the “last woman on the planet” who hasn’t gotten her face addicted to the Clarisonic, but it has not been because I wasn’t curious about it. I just never took the time to consider it actually might make a difference in my skincare routine. That being said, I was curious enough in the past to have actually purchased an “imitation” version in the past, which I can now personally confirm does not compare to the Mia, in both the feeling on the skin and the results. This is definitely the real deal - at least for me!
WHEN DECIDING which Clarisonic to purchase, I asked some of you on Twitter which version I should get, because there are quite a few Clarisonic cleansing systems now, from a larger one you can use on your face and body, to a smaller and more travel-friendly design in the Mia and Mia 2 or the Aria which has some additional features beyond the Mia versions. When it came down for me to decide which one I should purchase, it was between the Mia and the Mia 2. I ultimately decided on the Mia, and I am happy with my decision. The main differences between the two is that the Mia has one speed (normal), and the Mia 2 has two speeds (low and normal), and additionally includes a pulsing timer so you know when you move on to the next area of the face. While at first I was a little less than stellar at properly counting in my head while simultaneously moving this foreign object across my face and remembering to move it to the next section on my own, I can proudly say now after 10 days of use I’ve got it down, and I don’t need to even count. I also find the normal speed quite gentle and effective on my skin, and do not see the need for use of a low speed on my skin anyway.
MY SKIN TYPE is oily and acne prone. I have large pores on my cheeks and have wrinkles on my forehead. As far as my skincare, I am still using Paula’s Choice products (see reviews here: Paula’s Choice on VanityRouge), but I did switch my night time cleanser for a more gentle version in her line. I feel like adding the Mia in addition to my favorite skincare line really has pushed my routine over the edge into something fantastic.
I USE THE MIA only at night, removing any makeup first with my Bioderma Sensibio and a large cotton pad. Then I wet my face slightly, apply Paula’s Choice RESIST Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser (review coming soon) all over my face and then use the Mia 20 seconds on my forehead, 10 seconds on each of my cheeks, and 20 seconds on my nose/chin. At this point the Mia shuts off, so I turn it back on to be sure I cleanse along my jawline (which is prone to breakouts for me), and take it down my neck as well. I usually do not count at these areas, and I just go for how it feels. After I am done rinsing my skin off and patting it dry with a towel I take a moment rinse out and cleanse the brush head using an antibacterial soap mixture I use for cleaning my brushes, and then allow it to dry for use the following night.
MIRACLE WORKER? FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH? While I do not believe this product will ever be a miracle worker, nor become the fountain of youth for me (forehead wrinkles require much more “persuasion” one might say!), I can report that in just 10 days I have noticed my pores have gotten smaller, look visibly more cleaned out, and my skin feels even more smooth than it had previously, and it feels so clean – so clean it feels good (not tight or uncomfortable), just fresh! Also I am waking up with less oil on my face than I used to when just cleansing my face with my hands, and I feel like my skin is absorbing the serums and other skincare products better that I use on a daily basis. Now that is something I love!
Well now that I have gone on and on in a post that was supposed to be “short and sweet”, there you have all of my thoughts on the Clarisonic Mia! I am already in love with her, and I am definitely happy with my purchase!
I’d love to know your thoughts on the Clarisonic Mia – or which one is your favorite and your results as well!
