The Melted Chocolate Liquified Lipsticks are offered in six shades – 3 metallics and 3 creams.
What’s so great about these new liquified lipsticks? Well, for one they are actually infused with cocoa powder and chocolate scent so they smell oh-so-delicious! Secondly, they are offered in metallic and cream finishes which of course is also delicious. If you haven’t tried the Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks from Too Faced yet, they are a soft and creamy liquid lipstick that doesn’t full set onto the lips (as with other liquid lipsticks) so it has the feeling of a very soft pigmented lipstick with the slip and shine of a soft gloss. The feeling on the lips is not sticky, but smooth.
The applicator has a felt tip, and the product can be squeezed to the top to apply to the lips. Sometimes the product can separate in the tube, so kneading it a bit with your fingers before applying helps dispense the product properly.
Here’s a loser look at the colors in this collection, as well as swatches.
From the top: Chocolate Milkshake, Chocolate Honey, Chocolate Cherries, Metallic Chocolate Diamonds, Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate, Metallic Candy Bar
Swatched L to R: Chocolate Milkshake, Chocolate Honey, Chocolate Cherries, Metallic Chocolate Diamonds, Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate, Metallic Candy Bar
Melt On My Lips Please (and Thank you!)
Chocolate Milkshake is a warm nude cream with a smooth formula. If you’re wondering how this shade compares to Melted Nude Liquified Longwear Lipstick from their regular line, the answer is they are nearly identical. Chocolate Milkshake has a bit more of a peachy tone to it rather than a neutral nude, so if you are more of a warm nudes kinda gal then go for this one. If you already have Melted Nude then you may not need this one.
Chocolate Honey is a more of a tawny nude on my skintone. When swatched it definitely looks brown, but on my complexion it tends to look a little warmer. I think this one is neutral enough that it would work for warm and cool skintones because of this. Of the two light creamy shades in this release I prefer Chocolate Milkshake a bit more on myself.
Chocolate Cherries is a definite bold red-brown shade! It is the darkest shade in the bunch and makes quite a leap from the other two creams in the collection. The color is absolutely beautiful and although I need to be very precise when applying (I have to use a brush for this one rather than the applicator) because it is so dark on my skintone, I definitely love it.
Metallic Chocolate Diamonds is a solid metallic/glitter nude. In swatching it on the arm I thought it would be sheer, but once on the lips the metallic sheen and glitter bits definitely like to party. This shade is actually a little too glittery for my taste, so much so that the glitter gets pretty much everywhere (reaching outside of my lip lines even) and it even looks like I applied a glittery eyeshadow on the lips instead of lipstick. While pretty, I just can’t get on board the glitter lips train with this one.
Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate is more of what I’d expect from the Metallic Liquified Lipstick from the brand. The color is a warm and soft nude-brown that is easy to wear. It is smooth with metallic sheen and while it has fine bits of glitter in the formula, it is not messy. This shade was not as opaque as I was expecting, but for the metallic finish and the fact that it is a soft nude I like this one!
Metallic Candy Bar is another smooth metallic shade that is easily wearable. Of this and Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate this would be slightly cooler than the previous shade. It went on a little more sheer than I expected – as you can see from the photo above I did not build it up as much as it could have been, so some of my lip color is showing through.
Overall I find the Melted Chocolate Liquified Lipsticks from Too Faced a fun collection to meet the brown lip trend that seems to be here to stay. Because of the scent you would most definitely need to like chocolate in order to really enjoy these, although the scent does die down after about an hour the initial chocolate scent experience is quite strong. I like the formulation of the creams in the collection and of the metallic shades my most recommended shade would be Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate. My least favorite is the Metallic Chocolate Diamonds due to the intense glitter.
