The dog days of summer are here and now, so this is what I’m doing about it!
We’re officially rounding the corner as summer is coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean things are slowing down any as we race toward the finish line of the season. I’ve been busy prepping for a move at the end of this month, so needless to say things have been a little hectic in my world. But, just because things have gotten busy, doesn’t mean I’m neglecting some of the things that make me feel pretty and polished! Today I’m sharing my top 6 body, hair and complexion products that have been my summer staples this season.
Scrub n’ Smooth
bliss Blood Orange + White Pepper Sugar Scrub| $36 US, amazon.com
If you’ve been a reader here for awhile now you know how much I love this body scrub, and I’m happy to find out that it seems to no longer be discontinued! The blood orange/white pepper scent is incredibly invigorating and absolutely delicious in the shower (so much so I wish I could eat it!), plus the combination of the scrub/suds is perfect to use on my legs for shaving. I’ve been indulging in this all summer long!
Paula’s Choice RESIST Body Oil Spray | $24 US, paulaschoice.com
Following in-shower exfoliating, I’ve been applying the new Paula’s Choice RESIST Body Oil Spray which gives me that sexy summer glow on my legs without going over the top. The oil is lightweight, not too greasy and the fact that it has a spray pump makes it perfect to use when I’m in a hurry. Oh, and the formula is unscented so it won’t clash with any other scents I’m wearing (and it won’t bother my nose!)
Supergoop! Antioxidant-Infused Sunscreen Mist with Vitamin C SPF 30 | $13 US, sephora.com
If you are tired of holding your breath while spraying yourself down with typical aerosol sunscreens – you know the ones that leave a cloud behind – this aerosol-free mist has your name all over it! Not only does it offer broad spectrum SPF 30, but the vitamin C-infused formula means you get a faint citrus scent as you apply. This has been my go-to all-over body SPF this summer.
Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen Braod Spectrum SPF 40 | $28 US, sephora.com
For those days that I need a little SPF coverage on my shoulders or chest before heading out the door I’ve been reaching for this mineral SPF from Supergoop! The formula is easy to rub into my skin, and the olive oil polyphenols is an added antioxidant benefit. It also works well on my face if I’m doing yard work or heading out for a quick run too – it’s gentle and not greasy either!
Tame The Mane
Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisble Oil | $38 US, sephora.com
After using some of my Beauty Insider reward points in April on the Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s 500 point perk I came away with a must-have for my frizzy/damaged/dry/thin hair: The B&B Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. This oil is the most lightweight I’ve ever tried (I can use three pumps in my hair without it looking greasy!) and it simultaneously banishes frizz, dryness, detangles, acts as a heat protector and protects against UV damage to boot! I use three pumps on the ends of my hair right after the shower, or sometimes I wait until my hair is 50% dry before running a good amount through my hair which results in messy, shiny tresses that are perfect to rock on a summer casual day!
That Summer Glow
Algenist Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer SPF 30 | $42 US, sephora.com
Every girl needs a good tinted moisturizer with SPF to throw on in a jiffy when jetting out the door! I’ve been in many of those situations over the past month and found this tinted moisturizer from Algenist delivered when it came to giving me a natural looking radiance that lasted all day. Although I have oily skin that would require I blot later on in the day, the overall healthy natural finish it gives my skin is fabulous. If you have dry skin you may find the Microalgae Oil is perfect to give your skin a gentle hydration throughout the day, plus the formula contains anti-aging ingredients to smooth and soften the look of wrinkles. Please note this tinted SPF moisturizer is scented (it almost smells like an exotic oil) so if you are sensitive to fragrance, keep this in mind.
Bronze It On
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer | $50 US, sephora.com
Honestly, I cannot say enough about this bronzer! It has been my go-to bronzer of this season, hands-down. Although it could be included in a summer makeup essentials article, I had to include the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in this post because of how I use it. After applying my tinted moisturizer (or BB cream depending on my mood). I take my large Real Techniques powder brush, dip and swirl into the Ambient Lighting Bronzer and have a good ol’ time bronzing it up along my temples, down my nose, on my cheeks and jawline and then I take it down my neck, chest, and exposed shoulders to give them a kiss of color as well. The soft luminous finish of the bronzer not only makes it beautiful and healthy-looking to wear, but it blends like a dream too! Want to see a full review, swatches and making look?
