Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Color Cube Lid Liner Stain Review, Photos, Swatches

In Eye Makeup, Sephora by Angie Canning9 Comments

March is the perfect time to celebrate the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year in Emerald, and Sephora is a great place to get your green on!  I purchased the Sephora+ Pantone Universe Color Cube Lid Liner Stain to share with you today.  Watch out!  I think this post just might make you “emerald” with envy! 😉

The outer box packaging in the Sephora+Pantone Universe products are unique and colorful.

Get ready to rock Emerald all year long – I’m starting with Spring (my makeup look using this product is linked below)

The liner itself is packaged in a sturdy jar with tight lid, and is very sleek.

The Emerald Lid Liner Stain is a beautiful shimmery green shade that builds up to a gorgeous metallic shimmer on the lids. This product can easily be used all over the lid as a base for eyeshadows, or on a liner brush to define the upper lashline – both ways work beautifully!

The Lid Liner swatches like a dream – intense, creamy, solid and pure emerald. It even has a slight metallic finish.

The consistency of the liner is soft, creamy and almost mousse-like, so it doesn’t take much when you dip your brush (or finger in) to apply.

The Sephora+Pantone Universe Color Cube Lid Liner Stain is a cream eyeshadow and a liner.  Sephora states Its intense color wears comfortably and vividly for a bold, energized look day into night.

Application, Consistency & Wear.  The liner/eye shadow has a very surprising consistency, and when I first dipped my finger in to swatch it, I was a little surprised my finger practically went right through the jar because the liner is so soft!  You hardly need to dip your brush or your finger in to apply enough product to the lids, although I will say to intensify the color, I went back and applied a few coats on my upper lashline since I was using an eyeliner brush.  I found the product easy to apply with a brush or my fingers.  It was incredibly smooth – with no tugging at all, and building up the color intensity was seamless.  The wear time was great – no fading on me all day with a primer underneath.

Finish.  When built up, the finish of the liner is a vibrant, metallic green.  If used as an all over lid base, you can use less, and it can be blended out for a less intense metallic look.

Overall, I find this the perfect product to experiment with the 2013 Color of the Year!  The consistency, ease of application, and build-able color intensity is superb.  I think this is a fabulous product, and I am so pleased with my purchase!

      1. Hello there! I have not swatched the NYX one, but when I saw the Teal Gel Liner in the pot it looks like a different color and it is also matte, while the Sephora one has a metallic finish and is a brighter green. I hope that helps! 🙂

    1. Does it stain the lids? I feel like with stain written into the name I am less likely to buy.

Hi Danielle – I use it with a primer base (Too Faced Shadow Insurance) and I did not experience staining. It does stain my hand when just swatching it directly though. 🙂
