Riri Hearts MAC Holiday 2013 Online Launch at MAC, Nordstrom

RiRi ♥ M·A·C Holiday 2013

Has it really only been 2 hours since the online launch today?  This was the question I asked myself at 1pm CST while finishing up this post.  I was in a mad dash this morning during the RiRi ♥ M·A·C launch at 12pm EST at  Of course I was at the ready, with my account logged in, proper credit card updated (you know the one you reserve for makeup expenditures during “this time of year”) all by 10:40am, and then I waited with my internet browser pages side by side while blogging about the early Urban Decay NAKED 3 online launch tomorrow so I could keep tabs on when the Riri Holiday Collection would go live in the other browser window.

If you were on MAC’s website on Wednesday, you might have noticed they had a teaser up, sharing with us that the collection would be launched in 1 day!  Then this morning, the images was updated to say RiRi ♥ M·A·C Holiday is “coming soon”:

MAC’s Riri Teaser on 12/4/13

MAC’s Riri Teaser on the morning of the launch, 12/5/13

The Riri Collection was active for me right at noon EST (11am CST).  Once clicking on the Riri image, I was taken to an online waiting room that “auto-refreshes” every few moments.  While waiting MAC had several different messages that popped up each time it refreshed.

In the waiting room at  Worth the wait…?

I tweeted and posted on Facebook that I was in the waiting room, but I think me, like others, were too distracted with the wait to be tweeting and posting to each other until after we got the RiRi goods!

It actually did not take long to get in to the site- well at the time I didn’t think it had taken long!  I got in after 12 minutes, but by that point two of the items were sold out that I had on my list:

  • Bad Girl Riri Lipstick
  • Superstruck Eyeliner in Cockiness

There were also many other products sold out – the only lipstick left at the time was RiRi Woo, and both eye liners were gone.  I find it (slightly) humorous that for the thirty minutes I spent on the edge of my seat waiting to get in, I could have just waited a couple of hours and still purchased one of the items I ended up with (bronzing powder).  Currently, the eye palettes are also still available, but the lipsticks and eyeliner are sold out, as well as the nail polish which, when available at the time, I actually threw in my cart out of desperation.

Conversation with Self:

Me: “Seriously, do you really need another red nail polish?”

Self: “Girlfriend, you don’t have RiRi Woo, so you’d better believe that you do!”

And that was that.  I checked out with Riri Woo Nail Polish and Bronzing Powder in my cart.  Sadly, no overnight shipping was offered with this collection, so you won’t see any of it for a few days here on VanityRouge, and it will possibly be old news by then, but hey – I figure Riri isn’t going out of style any time soon, so you’ll be “forced” to see here around here anyway. ;)

• the nordstrom wait •

We’ve all been there – our Riri dreams crushed when everything sold out online within minutes of the launch, so now what’s a girl to do but wait for RiRi ♥ M·A·C Collection to launch at Nordstrom on December 9th (as tweeted by Temptalia/Nordstrom)!  Hooray – that day is not too far away! :)  I’m not sure of the time, but you might want to be at the ready at midnight just in case!

In the meantime, be sure to check out the “behind the scenes video from the holiday shoot with Rihanna here: MAC on YouTube!

What about you?  Did you get what you wanted online from the RiRi ♥ M·A·C Holiday Collection online launch?  Let me know what you got – and don’t worry, I will attempt to smile at you through my clenched teeth! (Kidding, kidding…)

I would be a little (or a lot) irked if that happened to me, to be honest! I know it’s pretty commonplace with MAC collections, but yikes.

Haha, yeah I was frustrated at the time, but now I’ve moved along…there are so many more products out there ready to be excited about! The launch date in store is almost here, but I’m not sure I’ll go to check it out…hmm… ;D
