MY MAC STORE LAUNCH EXPERIENCE: I traveled to the Houston Galleria MAC Store on Thursday morning and waited in line before the store opened. The line was fairly long by the time I arrived – and right then and there I was wishing that I hadn’t topped to make a cup of coffee before taking the 30 minute drive to the Galleria (I had to pee really bad at this point!) Although the crowd was in good spirits, some were a little nervous – wondering if they would get the pieces they had their hearts set on from the collection, while others were checking Temptalia for swatches, and some were trying to explain how each product looks and how it swatches to those who didn’t know yet – all before we even got a foot inside the door! There were also chuckles from mall-walkers and nearby mall kiosk employees when they found out we were waiting in a long line for “just makeup”! Is it weird that I felt a sense of comradery at that point?
I was very impressed with how MAC handled this highly anticipated launch. I half expected chaos; and maybe I considered wearing my heels in case I needed to wield them…? (totally kidding!) It was a calm and positive experience, which I think is a total reflection of how calm and collected the MAC employees handled everything. MAC handed out small slips of paper with a list of all of the pieces from the collection and we could check off each piece we wanted to purchase – but only one of each product was allowed! Fortunately, everything was very well organized and the employees assured us they had plenty of stock so we did not have to rush. They allowed only a few into the store at a time so that it would minimize the crowd inside the tiny store – very smart! The employees took our slips with our orders to they could start filling the bags as we went to get our hands on the products in the display (see my photos on Instagram here)!
Although the MAC employees cannot purchase any pieces from this collection (so sad, right?!) they were still upbeat and excited about the launch. I was very pleased with my experience, and I will definitely do it again should there be another exciting launch like this one!
Did you get out to a MAC Store to shop for this collection? I’d love to know what you experienced!
