Masque Bar by Look Beauty is a five mask collection currently sold in stores as well as online at Target.  There are several masks to choose from for different skin types and concerns, which I will share with you below.  Today I will be sharing with you the Pore Refining Créme Mask.

Masque Bar Pore Refining Creme Mask (4)

Masque Bar Pore Refining Creme Mask (5)

Product Ingredients.  Note the use of fragrance if you are sensitive.

Masque Bar Pore Refining Creme Mask (8)

Each box comes with 4 packets which covered my entire face, neck and decollete.

Masque Bar Pore Refining Creme Mask (7)

The product is a pasty-white color with the consistency of a thick lotion that is very smooth, soft and slippery.

The Pore Refining mask is meant to minimize the appearance of pores, refining your look and evening the complextion.  Containing Raspberry Extract, Lemon Fruit Extract and Vitamin E it is said to leave the skin feeling balanced and looking more radiant.

My Skin Type: Oily, Acne Prone

My Skin Concerns: Wrinkles, Large Pores

First of all I should note that although I read the words “créme mask” on the outside of the package I actually thought it looked in the photo that it was a sheet mask that happened to be “creamy”.  Don’t ask me how I missed that one, but I thought you might get a kick out of my mis-perception, and also wanted to clarify to you that although there are several sheet masks in this line, this one is (well obviously to you can see by the swatch now) a cream one.  Again, just to clear up any confusion. ;)

Application, Texture, and Experience

The directions state this product is to be applied after cleansing the skin with warm water, and leaving the face wet.  It worked best to not leave the face too wet or it watered down the mask, so I found it to more easy to apply on a damp face.  In application I found the product to smooth onto my face and neck areas easily.  There was plenty of product to go over the areas I wanted, go over it again, and then a small amount was left over.  The package instructions state to use right away or it may dry out.  I would suggest if you have extra to put it into a zip-lock bag to preserve it so it does not dry out.  I left the mask on for the full amount of time (twenty minutes).  During this time I did not feel any stinging.  There was no feeling of coolness (temperature seemed relevant to the temperature of the room).  As it dried, it began to look slightly chalky and have a “set” feel to it, similar to a mud mask, but it did not feel tight or uncomfortable and never fully dried on the face after the 20 minutes (possibly due to my heavy application).  This masque has a slight fruity and sweet scent to it, although the scent was not particularly pleasant to me.

Results

I used a soft cloth and warm water to assist with removing the mask from my face.  After removing the mask and allowing my skin to dry my face felt comfortable (no tightness), refreshed and clean.   I observed my skin beforehand, as well as immediately after rinsing my face.  I did not notice that my pores appeared minimized or my skin to be any more radiant, although the mask did make my skin feel balanced.

Summary

Although this is a nice mask, and in general I find masks relaxing and fun, this one did not give me noticeable results, which is exactly what I expected.  I am more convinced about the daily impact I am making in taking care of my skin with the products I use, rather than a twenty minute mask results.  Of course your results may vary based upon your regular skincare routine.  I found the mask experience to be positive even though I did not experience results, because it was relaxing so it served it’s purpose.  I am interested in trying one of the other masks – this time a sheet one for sure – ;)  I will let you know how that goes!

I like face masks but they don’t really help my face out too much either. I have a blackhead one which seems to bring them to the surface and then go away. Other than that mask, I prefer acid or something a bit more hardcore if applied by a derm. This mask would probably break my face out since I have very sensitive skin and this seems really foofoo.

I have yet to try a professional in office treatment, but I definitely think those would definitely blow any home mask out of the water. I will have to try it someday!

  2. This is quite interesting. Since each box comes with 4 packs, and you mentioned that they would cover your entire face and neck, are we suppose to use all 4 packs per each application? That seems like a waste of packaging to me. They could have just make a bigger pack for individual usage.

Sorry for the confusion – I only used one packet that covered my face and neck! :) Yes I agree that would be ridiculous if you had to use all four in one application. :) I will make it more clear in the post so I don’t confuse anyone else – haha! :)

I picked up a few of these a couple of days ago. I was pretty excited until I noticed that they weren’t the sheet masks.. I wondered how I could make this mistake, but I’m glad to hear I wasn’t the only one. (-: xx
