MAKE UP FOR EVER Professional released the new Smoky Extravagant mascara earlier this year – a mascara said to deliver volume, length, curl and precision utilizing ultra-black natural mineral pigments. Regardless of your “stage” – a movie set, the runway, or the office, this mascara is said to be a must-have for every woman.

The Smoky Extravagant brush utilizes Tynex Fiber on all 580 bristles on the brush which combs, lifts and elongates the lashes. The unique conic shape really helps with coating every lash – I actually saw lashes appear that I forgot about! Here are some before and after shots:

Smoky Extravagant Mascara is a very pigmented black mascara containing Natural Mineral Pigments made of Micronized Iron Oxide. The formula is designed to coat each lash with opaque color, and is safe for sensitive eyes or contact wearers. The formula contains Panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 which is nourishing to the lashes.
The formula is a nice consistency, not to thick or thin, and not overly wet. My preference is to wear one coat on my lashes. I find it separates the lashes well and really does coat every last one. While I had a little bit of a learning curve when working with the conical shape of the mascara brush, I caught on quickly and found it easy to work with. I like the more precise tip on the end of the brush to get every last lash, and the thicker end of the brush works well on the outer lashes. I do find I have to wipe off the tip of the brush after pulling it from the bottle so there is not excess product on the tip. When going in for a second coat on the lashes I do have to separate them with a lash comb so my lashes do not stick together. My lashes have a hard time holding a curl without the use of a waterproof or very light mascara, and I do find with the Smoky Extravagant that my lashes do need additional assistance from a coat of waterproof mascara first, or (carefully) curling the lashes after application of Smoky Lash – something I do not do on a regular basis.
The result I get from using this mascara on my lashes is one of lengthening and separating, but I do not see much volume. My lashes are a little thin and not very full on their own, and when going in for another coat they tend to stick together rather than build up in volume. I do find the mascara nourishing, and it leaves my lashes feeling conditioned. It is easy to remove with an eye makeup remover.
