When there’s a sale on my holy grail makeup product there’s no ifs, ands or buts about it – I put it high on my shopping list!  During the VIB Rouge sale recently I decided I would purchase the jumbo version of my favorite  Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.  It’s got a full ounce more than the regular size I have been using and even the jumbo price is even a great value ($36 per ounce vs. $52 for the 1 ounce glass bottle) so with the sale it was definitely a must-buy for me!

The differences between the two are pretty obvious above – the 1 ounce size has the luxe Hourglass packaging – frosted glass and bronze metallic lid, plus it has a pump top.  The 2 ounce jumbo size is plastic and is a squeeze tube.

Now that I have it in my hand I am glad I purchased the jumbo size, but I’m also glad I had the original 1 ounce as well, because I definitely like the packaging in the glass container.  I have yet to use the tube, but it’s white and it seems like it will get pretty messy in my drawer next to my foundations but we shall see.  I suppose I could squeeze it out into my pump top if I wanted to sometime as well.

This jumbo vs regular size thing has me thinking though – will I use more now that I have a jumbo size?  Will I stop cherishing every single drop as I have with my precious 1 ounce size?  Hmmm!  I will have to see how it goes, but in the mean time I want to hear from you:

Do you purchase jumbo sizes of your favorite products and/or do you stock up on your must-haves during a sale?  If so do you find yourself using more product since you have a stockpile or do you still cherish every last drop?  Let me know in the comments below – I’d love to chat about it!

  1. I’m hoping the jumbo size will have less separation issues which I ran into with my travel size and deluxe sample. Towards the end, it was all liquid and I couldn’t get the actual good goopy stuff mixed back in. Now I am scraping the sides for the thick bits that actually do the oil control so well!

Oh strange! I haven’t had an issue with separation but I can see how a tube could help since you could mash it together (kind of like what I do with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance, haha!) PS – Sorry you were having trouble leaving a comment – let me know if it seems like it was something on my end and I will take a look at it!
