Formula X for SEPHORA
SEPHORA recently introduced Formula X, a new line of nail lacquers in over 200 bold shades with a variety of colors, effects and finishes. Today I’m sharing with you photos, swatches and review of four of the nail lacquers from The New Classics, The Chromes, The Transformers, and The New Neutrals collections from Formula X.
• JUJU •
Juju from The Holograms
JUJU from The Holograms is a stunning holographic icy blue shade that I fell in love with at first stroke! While the holographic glint is hidden when you just look at it in the bottle – (I know you are thinking to yourself – *yawn* another metallic baby blue polish…) you must definitely take a second look at this one! My favorite part about Juju is the unique actual holographic sheen it has that is fully visible on the nails while wearing it. it is like looking through a frosty window at the sunshine and getting a glimpse of a “rainbow”! The application and formula was perfect, and because it has a metallic finish, brush strokes are more visible, but two coats evens it out very well.
Juju is described as a ‘holographic ice blue’
• ORION’S BELT •
Orion’s Belt from the Celestials
ORION’S BELT from The Celestials collection is a textured charcoal polish that looks deceptively like a glitter polish in the bottle (if you don’t read the description on the Sephora website anyway!). I like that it has a good amount of sparkle to it, although I feel the silver glitter is quite dulled once applied to the nail. I like it with two coats on the nail, which gives more depth and sparkle. The formula was easy to work with and apply to the nail, so if you like textured polishes, look into this beauty!
Orion’s Belt is described as ‘charcoal and silver glitter shift’
• INDELIBLE •
Indelible from The New Classics
INDELIBLE from The New Classics is a violet-blue cream shade that is slightly darker on the nail than it appears in the bottle. I had the most issues with this polish. The formula is on the thin side and I had a hard time loading the brush properly and keeping it from running away from me. I also felt it set up rather quickly. I re-did the swatches on this one because in my original photoshoot I only did one coat on the nail, which I thought had covered well, however, under the lights I could definitely see it needed second coat. When re-swatching with a second coat I felt it was hard to spread and the second coat went on rather unevenly. The color is pretty though, so if you have patience you might want to see if this one will work better for you.
Indelible is a cream ‘rich violet’ shade.
• PERFECTION •
Perfection from The New Neutrals
PERFECTION, from The New Neutrals is a beautiful grey/faded plum shade that is a beautiful fall and winter neutral. Although it is cool-toned, there is something cozy-sweater-weather about it to me. The formula of Perfection was very nice – not too thick or too thin and easy to work with. I do feel this shade needs two coats to fully cover the nail. While this shade looks nearly brown on the Sephora website, and in the bottle it was deceptively more brown as well, I was very pleased to see the cool grey violet shade on the nails!
Perfection is described as a ‘smoky violet’
