Bioderma Sensibio H2O Review

Bioderma (2)

I have been curious for quite some time about Bioderma Sensibio, which is a gentle skin cleanser designed for sensitive, normal to dry skin.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O 500 ml

Ingredients

Back of product including directions for use.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O is a gentle makeup removing solution safe to use for face and eyes, and tested under opthalmological supervision according to Bioderma’s website.  It is designed to cleanse the skin and not require rinsing, but Bioderma states it is essential to dry your skin after use with a clean cotton towel.  This product is made in France, and is very hard to get in the United States, although it can be found on Amazon and eBay.

Application.  I soak a cotton pad with the Sensibio solution (see my Instagram photo here of my favorite brand), and then begin removing my face makeup.  I soak both the front and the back of the cotton pad, and usually end up using 2-3 pads depending on how much makeup I have on to remove.  While I found Bioderma Sensibio easily removes face makeup, as well as eyeshadow, I find that it does not remove my waterproof eye makeup such as waterproof mascara and waterproof gel liner, even when attempting to soak my eyes with the solution on a cotton pad for a minute.  I consulted Twitter last week to see what others have experienced, and a few others reported it does not remove waterproof makeup well.  The Bioderma website states it removes water-resistant makeup (which could be different from waterproof makeup – you will have to let me know).  What I like about this product is how gentle it is on the skin, it literally feels just like water, easily removes face makeup and eyeshadow, leaves no residue, and does not have a scent either. After use, my skin feels refreshed, not dried out, and very clean.  Sometimes I almost forget that I need to do the facial cleansing step in my routine because it removes all residue so well.

Overall, I really like this cleanser.  At first I was uncertain if I would repurchase, but after using it now for 2 1/2 months, I am finding it very convenient and worth the price to me for how gentle it is to my skin.  This particular bottle lasted me 2.5 months.  I have since tried another version of Bioderma’s cleansing water and done a review/comparison.  Please see the link below.

Have you tried the Bioderma Sensibio H2O solution and what did you think?

Where To Purchase: In the U.S., you can try reputable sellers on Amazon, or online retailers out of country.  I purchased this 500 ml bottle of Bioderma Sensibio H2O on Amazon.com for $32.00 with free shipping through Amazon Prime.  There are also 250 ml versions, as well as mini travel versions.  If you have found a cheaper and reputable store that offers this product I would love for you to share with others in the comments below.  Also, in your searching you may come across a name difference, with some bottles showing a label, “Bioderma Sensibio” and others “Bioderma Crealine”.  From what I learned from searches, this is the same product, but the new name for it is Sensibio.  On the Bioderma website it is also marketed as “Sensibio”.

Comparison Post: Sensibio vs. Sebium

I have also reviewed another cleansing water by Bioderma.  To read how the two compare, please see my post here: Bioderma Sébium H2O Review

Hi Angie.  Any idea why the website mentions that it’s essential to dry your face?  Thanks for the review.

      Hi Linda,
I am not quite sure, and I was also curious, but I did want to pass it a long since it was deemed “essential”.  I have emailed them just now to see if I can find out more.  We will see if they respond to my message. :)

  2. Hello ! I’m French & I use this product.

Like you say it doesn’t remove well waterproof make up or mascara… That’s why I use a biphasic lotion (like Cils Demasq – Gemey Maybelline for example).

In fact, “Sensibio H2O” (pink bottle) is for sensitive skin, there is also “Sebium H2O” (green bottle) for mixed skin & “Hydrabio H2O” (blue bottle) for sensitive and deshydrated skin. There is of all kinds !

I like use this lotion but I clean my face however with a “soap-free gel cleanser” (don’t know like we say exactly) to remove residues.

    You’re not lucky, 32$, it’s very expensive :s We pay that 8€ = 10$ approximately :(
Hope you can find this cheaper somewhere !

Hello! Thank you so much for the additional information – that is so helpful to me and to my readers as well! :) I do not have sensitive skin, but I do love how gentle this is, and how easily it takes off my face makeup. Since purchasing this I have used up quite a lot of the product, but I am using it like I would have used a makeup removing wipe before, taking several cotton squares with the Sensibio H2O on it, and removing most of the my face makeup, then I do go back in and use my regular cleanser to get rid of the residue. I also have been using a separate eye makeup remover, but I am looking for a new one that I like better.

Wow! I knew what I paid was overpriced, but that is a huge price difference! I too hope I can find it cheaper somewhere – I am starting to really like this because it is so much more gentle than a makeup removing wipe, or even a cleanser and it does such a fantastic job of removing my makeup.

Thank you again for sharing the information! Have a beautiful day! :)

      • you’re welcome ! I use it like a make up remover too. I’ve a mixed skin but the H2O sensibio fit the bill. I have a 500 ml bottle and by using it every day it lasts several months nevertheless. Finally I find that this product have a good value for money :)

Good continuation & have a good day too :)

I just bought my 5th Rimmel makeup remover. It’s outstanding for the price. $3.99 at Walmart. It lasts me about 3 weeks maybe. I’ve only used it a couple of times on my entire face to test to see if it will cause a breakout, so far so good. I follow up with a cleanser as well. I know that the Bioderm can be used on it’s own.
I don’t regularly use waterproof makeup though so I’m not sure how well it works. But for all other eye makeup, it removes every little bit. Great product!

Oh wow! You really like it! I still need to pick it up, but I definitely will. I have really grown to love the Bioderma but I have yet to decide if I will repurchase when it is all gone! O.O :)
